Santa Urology Istanbul

About the clinic

A single-specialty andrology centre in Istanbul

Santa Urology exists because the men who need this surgery most are the ones least likely to ask for it. Everything about how the clinic is organised follows from that.

The clinic was founded in 2011 around a narrow proposition: perform penile prosthetic and reconstructive surgery at a volume high enough to be genuinely good at it, and build the logistics around international patients so that travelling for treatment is not itself a risk factor. Both halves matter. Excellent surgery undone by a missed transfer, an uninterpreted consent discussion or a follow-up that ended at passport control is not excellent care.

Andrology is unusual among surgical fields in how long patients wait before presenting. Population studies consistently find a delay of several years between the onset of erectile dysfunction refractory to tablets and any conversation about definitive treatment. By the time a man researches a penile implant he has typically tried oral therapy, often injections, and has rarely been told that prosthetic surgery has the highest satisfaction rate of any treatment for erectile dysfunction — in the region of ninety per cent for both patients and partners in published series. Our first job is usually information, not surgery.

That is why the treatment pages on this site read the way they do. They are longer than marketing pages, they contain complication rates, and several of them explain in detail who we decline. A patient who arrives having read them arrives with calibrated expectations, and calibrated expectations are the single best predictor of satisfaction after prosthetic surgery.

How we work

Six principles the clinic is organised around

01

One field, done properly

We do not offer hair transplants, dentistry or bariatric surgery alongside andrology. A centre that offers everything is organised around selling procedures; a centre that offers one thing is organised around doing it well. Volume within a narrow field is what produces the pattern recognition that matters in revision and salvage work.

02

Assessment before commitment

Every enquiry is read by a urologist before any quotation is issued, and a meaningful minority receive a reply recommending medical therapy, a different procedure, or no surgery at all. Turning people away is a cost we accept, because the alternative is operating on men who should not be operated on.

03

The surgeon who consults is the surgeon who operates

You meet your surgeon on video before you book, not for the first time on a trolley outside theatre. This is unremarkable in domestic practice and unfortunately not universal in medical tourism.

04

Honest numbers, including the bad ones

Our treatment pages carry infection rates, mechanical failure rates, expected length loss after implantation and the limits of lengthening surgery. Patients who are told the truth in advance recover better, complain less and — in the prosthetic literature — report higher satisfaction, because their expectations were calibrated rather than inflated.

05

Care that does not end at the airport

Twelve months of scheduled follow-up is part of every package rather than an upsell. Where a patient needs local care we write to their own doctor and supply the full operative record, in English, with device serial numbers.

06

Discretion as a clinical requirement

We publish no testimonials, no patient photography and no before-and-after imagery of any kind. Correspondence uses a neutral sender name on request. Men delay treatment for this diagnosis by years, and privacy is often the deciding factor in whether they seek it at all.

Facilities and governance

Where treatment takes place

Consultations, assessment and follow-up take place at the clinic in Beşiktaş. Surgery is performed in accredited private hospitals in Istanbul with full anaesthetic, intensive care and interventional radiology cover — a deliberate arrangement, because prosthetic surgery occasionally needs resources a standalone day-surgery unit does not have.

Prosthetic implantation follows a written infection-prevention protocol: pre-operative antiseptic preparation, intravenous antibiotic prophylaxis covering Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, a no-touch technique with device isolation from skin contact, and antibiotic-coated or hydrophilic-coated devices as standard. Every device serial number is recorded in the operative note and registered with the manufacturer in the patient’s own name, so warranty and traceability follow the patient rather than the clinic.

The clinic holds Turkish Ministry of Health facility authorisation and an international health tourism authorisation certificate, both of which are displayed on request and stated in full on the invoices we issue.

Regulatory note. Turkish health advertising regulations prohibit healthcare providers from publishing patient testimonials, before-and-after imagery or promotional claims of superiority. We comply with those rules, which is why this site presents clinical information, published outcome ranges and process detail rather than patient stories. Read our medical disclaimer.

Why Istanbul

Not simply that it is cheaper

Türkiye performs a large share of the world’s prosthetic urology, concentrated in a small number of high-volume centres — a consequence of a longstanding national urological training tradition and of demand from across the region. High volume in a narrow field produces surgeons who have seen the difficult version of your case before.

The cost difference is real, and it is structural: staffing, facility overheads and professional indemnity cost less here, and the exchange rate does the rest. The device itself is the same manufacturer part number at a comparable global price. What you are not buying is a cheaper implant.

Istanbul is also, practically, four hours or less from most of Europe, the Gulf and North Africa, with two large international airports and a hospital sector that has been treating international patients for two decades. The patient journey page sets out exactly how a visit is structured.
